{"id":217,"date":"2012-02-08T04:12:49","date_gmt":"2012-02-08T04:12:49","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/gordsellar.com\/texts\/?p=217"},"modified":"2012-02-08T04:12:56","modified_gmt":"2012-02-08T04:12:56","slug":"across-for-claire-and-charlie","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/gordsellar.com\/texts\/2012\/02\/across-for-claire-and-charlie\/","title":{"rendered":"Across (for Claire and Charlie )"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em>by Gord Sellar<\/em><\/p>\n<p>They speak in grave tones of the utter difference<br \/>\nand I cannot blame them, the world they lived in<br \/>\nwhere some gravity, some mass, makes all the difference:<br \/>\nthe rivulet of hydrogen and oxygen, bound firm<br \/>\nas if by lovers&#8217; arms, drawn down into the fibers,<br \/>\nthe sticking place of the pigment, the bonding of ink<br \/>\ninto paper, the paper you have handled when thinking<br \/>\nof him. There is perhaps something utterly different.<\/p>\n<p>They seem to think the same of electrons, when<br \/>\nthey kick one another in the behind, shoved one by one<br \/>\nin stream as if eager to tear through the copper and night<br \/>\nacross the rim of the planet, into her ear where you<br \/>\nwould whisper with air alone, with body&#8217;s breath<br \/>\nif you could, but where this electronic dopplerganger<br \/>\nspeaks for you, into her body, as if the ends<br \/>\nof disparate filaments can somehow approximate<br \/>\nalmost-touch. People have sanctioned this.<\/p>\n<p>But not so with photons. Not when words break down<br \/>\ninto stream of digits; as if there are too many filters,<br \/>\nwalls, barricades for anything to grow in this space.<br \/>\nThey picture the network as if it were no-man&#8217;s-land,<br \/>\nand no-woman&#8217;s too. And I must admit, I know a little<br \/>\nof that suspicion; I have seen the dry blooms, tasted<br \/>\nwindborne dust.
